Additional Services:
Our goal at Shore Pines is to meet each resident's needs while maintaining the highest level of choice, dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality. To assure that this is done effectively, an assessment is conducted prior to move-in. Residents, family members, and Shore Pines' staff work together to develop an individually-tailored Assistance Plan. A follow-up family care conference will be held regularly to assure that, as a resident's needs change, the Assistance Plan is adjusted accordingly.
In addition to Basic Services, Shore Pines offers Personal Assistance Plans for those who need additional help with their daily routines. Some of these services include:
What is assisted living?
Assisted living is not entirely regulated by the federal government; as a result, each state has its own licensing requirements, regulations and inspection procedures. The terminology for this type of senior housing may also differ from state to state. Some of the most commonly used terms are Assisted Living, Personal Care Home, Adult Family Home, Residential Care Facility, Board and Care, Long Term Care Facilities, or Adult Congregate Care. Most of these terms are synonymous with assisted living, and in this site all will be referred to as assisted living or senior assisted living. In some cases assisted living communities may be appropriate for younger people with disabilities, but most are designed to be senior homes and have age requirements
Most assisted living facilities will create a unique service plan for each resident to ensure that every person receives exactly the services he or she needs while still being able to maintain his or her current lifestyle. Residents of assisted living are evaluated regularly so that services can be tailored to their changing needs. The services and level of care available in an assisted living facility, as well as the costs for these services, can vary. Assisted living costs may be all inclusive, or the costs of assisted living services may be added to a base monthly fee.
An assisted living facility may be ideal for those who need some assistance with activities of daily living "ADLs", but are able to live and function for the most part on their own. Assisted living care commonly includes meals, some degree of housekeeping and laundry services, and can go as far as assistance with bathing, dressing, ambulating, and medication assistance. Assisted living facilities may also have customized memory care programs that may help to maintain or improve cognitive function in assisted living residents.
We're an energetic and growing association of medical centers, clinics, programs, and medical providers-allvitally committed to compassionate care of our patients as well as the health of our beautiful communities.
How Does an Assisted Living Facility Differ From a Nursing Home?
Nursing homes are designed to care for very frail people that are not able to care for themselves and have numerous health care requirements. Assisted living facilities are designed to assist elderly persons who are able to care for themselves except for a few activities. Assisted living facilities are often deemed necessary when the person iin question needs help preparing meals, bathing, dressing, performing household chores, is sometimes confused, or is experiencing memory problems.
What are Continuing Care Retirement Communities?
Move to assisted living as he or she needs help with activities of daily living, and eventually move to the nuring home as ongoing care becomes necessary.
The three different contracts available to people wishing to become a member of a continuing care community are extensive, modified, and fee-for-services. All three cover shelter, amenities, residential services, and any short-term and emergency care. The contracts differ in the amounts of entrance fees and monthly fees.
In addition to the costs mentioned above, an extensive contract also covers unlimited long-term nursing care with no corresponding increase in monthly payments. This is the most expensive contract but may prove to be the most cost-effective in the long run. The modified contract covers a specific amount of long-term nursing care in the monthly payments. Once the specified amount is used, the resident must pay for any additional nursing care. Residents under the fee-for-services contract must pay for long-term care at daily nursing care rates. Ths is the least expensive plan because all future long-term nursing costs must be paid for seperately from the contract.
Consult your financial planner to help you determine which plan is best for you.
What is Independent Living?
Independent living is for perople who want to and are able to live independently but do not want to maintain a home. Many people prefer to live in a community with others of the same age and with similar interests. An independent retirement community allows for a great deal of social activities and trips. Many independent living facilites also offer prepared meals and provide a wide range of amenitie.
More About Senior Housing
Whether assisted living, independent living or another type of senior housing, most senior living communities are more than just an apartment in a senior home. Senior living communities almost always provide meals, social activities and outings, and some transportation options. Many senior living communities have libraries, chapels, game rooms, craft rooms, exercise facilities, gardens, and more for their residents' enjoyment. Though transitioning from a lifelong home can be an extraordinary challenge, many seniors thrive in their new homes because of the increased social activities, healthy and consistent meals, and peace of mind that are provided in a senior living community.
